Lily, 2009 - 2025
I didn't know Lily for very long, only the last 3 years or so. When we first took her in she was a mess and badly needed someone to really take care of her.
She was an incredibly sweet and shy cat, it took her some time to warm up to me, but once she did and she found her place in the house she got very comfortable by times. All she ever really wanted was someone to just sit in bed with her, I don't think she liked being alone sometimes.
She didn't really know how to play, but there were a few times she would try. She loved going for a walk outside and eating grass, despite only having a few teeth, so loved eating grass. And she recently discovered the idea of climbing trees at the age of 15 1/2 (that's pretty much like your 80 year old grandmother suddenly wanting to climb trees). She would sometimes race up and down the hallway and start screaming as loud as she could, and then act as though nothing happened.
I'm glad I got the chance to know her, I would have loved to have seen her as a kitten and see what kind of cat she once was and what she looked like, but I'm glad I got to see her as a senior and see how much she loved her life in her final years. She was so sick, but she never once let on and never slowed down, she just seemed so content to just sit and have someone sit with her.
I'll miss her.
